On June 12, 2026, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presented Pakistan's Federal Budget 2026-27 in the National Assembly — and for the salaried class, this year's budget brought some of the most meaningful tax relief in recent memory. Tax rates have been reduced across four income slabs, a brand-new intermediate slab has been introduced, and the 9% surcharge on high earners has been completely abolished.
These changes are part of the Finance Bill 2026 and take effect from July 1, 2026 (Tax Year 2027). In this post, we break down every new slab, compare them to last year's rates, and give you a free calculator to find your exact monthly tax deduction and take-home salary.
๐ก Quick fact: Salaried individuals paid over Rs. 605 billion in income tax during FY 2024-25 — a 55% year-on-year increase — because tax is withheld at source with no room for underreporting. Budget 2026-27 acknowledges this imbalance and provides targeted relief.
๐ New FBR Income Tax Slabs for Salaried Class — FY 2026-27
Pakistan uses a progressive tax system — each slab rate applies only to the income that falls within that specific bracket, not your entire salary. Here are the official slabs for Tax Year 2027 (FY 2026-27):

๐ How Pakistan's Progressive Tax System Works
Many people mistakenly believe their entire salary is taxed at their slab rate. That is incorrect. Only the portion of income falling within each bracket is taxed at that bracket's rate.
Example: If you earn Rs. 3,000,000 annually:
- First Rs. 600,000 → 0% = Rs. 0
- Rs. 600,001 to Rs. 1,200,000 → 1% = Rs. 6,000
- Rs. 1,200,001 to Rs. 2,200,000 → 11% = Rs. 110,000
- Rs. 2,200,001 to Rs. 3,000,000 → 20% = Rs. 160,000
- Total annual tax = Rs. 276,000 | Monthly deduction = Rs. 23,000
